As, Brigaders we are the oldest members of the company, starting at 14 years of age or school years 10-13. We can work towards 3 seperate awards; The Brigaders Brooch, Young Leaders Awards and the Duke of Edinburgh Awards (see DofE page).
To obtain the Brigader Brooch, we use the n:spire programme, choosing the Badge topic from a number of "Channels" to then decide how to complete the project or task. We run this along side the Duke of Edinburgh & Young Leaders Award to gain maximum benefit.
Our Brigader section is a small friendly group, currently lead by Jan and Rachel and we meet between 7:00 - 8:30pm.
Badge Bag layout for Brigaders
If they joined as an Explorer, the Brigaders Badge bag is starting to look very busy, but there is still room for their purple centered, Bronze, Silver and Gold Circle awards, Brigader Brooch, Young Leaders award and Duke Of Edinburgh Awards
We hope this will prompt many happy memories of their time in Girls' Brgiade and remind them of the all the activties and skills they have learnt along the way.
Brigaders have previously used Just Dance videos to improve our fitness for the Physical Badge, learnt First Aid for our Education/ Skills Badge, completed the Young Leadership training programme towards the Service / Social Badge and joined in weekly discussions on the "Fruits of the Spirit" sharing of views and ideas of Christain faith to contribute towards our Spiritual Badge.
Last spring we joined the rest of the company to enjoy a Caneoing adventure along Beaulieu River and last Winter planned, organised and hosted a murder mystry supper evening raising approx £250 for the Grass Roots charity and our company.
We are planning lots of activities for next term - come and join us!
