Leaders Long Service Awards
Wendy Southwell was awarded her 60 years service award with Girls' (Life) Brigade at initially 1st Cadnam and then 1st Totton GB Companies. (Can you spot her in this picture from the 1950's of Girls Life Brigade keeping fit? Wendy also made the outfits they are wearing!)
Mrs Southwell (nee Touzel), firstly joined 1st Cadnam company as a "Cadet" and then became a leader with 1st Totton Company in 1962. She led the Explorer section for many years as well as making band costumes, directing pantomimes, driving mini buses and cooking for our annual camps.
A dedicated leader of the Explorer section in our company for many years, Wendy has handed this role on to other leaders now. She contnuned to take an active part in GB each week, opening the church to welcome girls and parents as they arrive and setting up for GB evenings right up until the Covid Pandemic, when she felt the time was right to take a rest. We sincerely thank her for dedication to the Girls' Brigade and work of our company.
