About Girls' Brigade

Girls' Brigade Engaland and Wales

Our GB company is part an international youth organisation "The Girls' Brigade".

GB was started in 1893 in Ireland as a weekday activity for girls attending Sunday School or Church.

In 1959, Girls’ Brigade of Ireland amalgamated with it sister organisations, The Girls’ Guildry of Scotland (1900) and the Girls’ Life Brigade of England (1902). It is now an international organisation operating in over 50 countries around the world adapting the programme and activities to suit local environment and needs but each sharing the same aim and Motto.

There are about 450 companies (or groups) currently active in England & Wales. Leaders complete DBS checks and undertake refresher training at least every 3. For more information about Girls' Brigade nationally and their mission, see the website www.girlsb.org.uk

For more information about the history of our company and the activities we do please see the Our Company and Events pages
